Homemade Beef Jerky

Most of you know by now that me and the hubby love to experiment with food and the smoker. So this weekend we made some beef jerky on the smoker. Now that I have finished shoveling about 3 pieces into my mouth I am ready to tell you all about it!

What You Need

Smoker or dehydrator of your choice. We have this one

Beef

Dr. Pepper

Jalapeños

Worcestershire sauce

Garlic Powder

Onion Powder

Salt

Pepper

We found this recipe from here from Hey Grill, Hey! Which I love because Hey Girl, Hey was basically my favorite saying in high school annnnnnd possibly my whole college career. Anyways

We used Top Round Steak Because it was on sale.

First we mixed the marinade

Doesn’t it look so yummy?? Just kidding! But trust me, it does it get good. I did sneeze a few times when I would stir this because of the pepper and jalapeños haha.

And while the marinade was simmer we sliced the beef into strips.

And then we put both the beef and marinade in a ziplock bag and let it soak over night.

It was probably close to 24 hours later that we started up the smoker due to a crazy busy weekend schedule, which like never happens for us.

So here is the soon to be jerky freshly on the smoker.

We had it on for roughly two hours. But honestly we both felt it could have been on a little longer. Regardless it’s still delicious and will get eaten so that’s all that matters to me!

Here’s a progress photo when we went out to flip them. I am not sure if you can see but the bottom rack is filled with the strips too.

And here it all is.

We both said next time we will have to let it all get a little shiny like this. Those were the best pieces.

She has a sweet java beef jerky recipe that I hope I can talk the hubby into making sometime soon!! And if I do, you know there will be a post about it!

I hope you give this recipe a try, and if you do let me know how it goes!
