Pillow UpCycle

So I ended up not posting on Friday! 😩 But today is Monday and I’m posting!!!! So I think I’ll always post Wednesday and then hopefully another day of the week whenever I can!

I had the pleasure of redoing pillows for a preschool classroom!! My first makeover. And I am so excited with how they turned out! They are like giant I spy pillows.

Here’s what I had to work with!

Yikes right?! They wanted me to just cover those pillows and have something with a zipper. So that way they could take them off and wash them. But you guys, I couldn’t do that. So I ripped open one of them to see what I was dealing with on the inside.

Again yikes. But I did reuse this. I put 2 different essential oils in it to freshen it up.

Then I ran to the store to get some zippers and white canvas.

Here are the new pillow forms. Just by changing that they look amazing. I also decreased my stitching length because I know they will get a lot of use and body slams.

Nice and white and clean. But since these are for a preschool class nice, white, and clean just don’t go πŸ˜‚ There are a few grease spots from the oils I used to freshen them up πŸ‘ŽπŸ»

I made one geared towards the boys and one geared towards the girls. This was also my first project I had where I could do some fussy cutting!! And while I liked it I felt fussy cutting wastes a lot of fabric! 😳

This was all character fabric I had on hand. Which was amazing!! I was surprised I had enough boy fabric though! I knew with having two girls the girl fabric would be no issue.

Here’s an up close of the zipper on the one. It will be nice for her to wash the covers.

Here they are in their classroom waiting for kids to come next week and enjoy them.

I’m sure they will get a lot of use and a lot of love.

  1. Ewww! the inside. Nice save. Great job on the redo and the I spy theme, brilliant! They’ll be better encased in the white fabric too. Not have to deal with that stuffing when taking off for washing. These will be lots fun for the kiddies I’m sure. Bravo πŸ™‚
